Professor Rezaul Kabir holds the Chair of Corporate Finance and Risk Management at the School of Management and Governance, University of Twente (Netherlands). He is also the Director of BSc and MSc (International) Business Administration programs of the University. The Chair is responsible for teaching and research in the area of finance, investments and financial risk management. It offers a large number of courses stretching across various educational programs of the University, with core contributions to the Bachelor and Master programs in Business Administration. A leading role is played in the Financial Management track of the MSc in Business Administration program and the Corporate Finance specialization of the BSc in (International) Business Administration program. Other full-time academic staff associated with the Chair are: Assistant Professor Dr. Xiaohong Huang; Lecturer Henry van Beusichem; PhD researchers Siraj Zubair, Hanh Minh and Maziah Nor.
Prof. Kabir joined the University of Twente in 2009. Previously, he was a Professor of Finance at the University of Stirling and Associate Professor of Finance at the University of Tilburg. He also taught courses at universities in Antwerp, Beijing, Liege, Maastricht and New York. His research covers a variety of topics including corporate finance, corporate governance, executive pay, law and finance and business groups. Prof. Kabir has published in a large number of peer reviewed international journals like Journal of Banking & Finance, Journal of Corporate Finance, Journal of Business, Finance & Accounting, Strategic Management Journal, Journal of Business Research, European Economic Review and Journal of Multinational Financial Management. Many of his research papers are publicly available at the Social Science Research Network.
The Chair is one of the three core areas of the Department of Finance and Accounting within the School of Management and Governance, juxtaposed to the Chair of Management Accounting and the Chair of Public Management. Its research activities are integrated with the Strategic Research Orientation program of the University: Management of Innovation and Entrepreneurship at the Institute of Governance Studies (IGS).
